Back: The greeting card you are holding exists because people like you helped me achieve my goals. I was motivated to work hard at whatever I did and never give up. I learned to believe in myself and others. Through my cards, I want to help families recognize how many opportunities and great moments they will experience having a person with a developmental disability in their life. Living my life has its challenges, but it’s also a lot of fun! That’s why my company inspires2aspire. – Todd
Among all the articles Todd’s father read in the beginning of their journey, he found one sentence, told himself this was all they needed to know and stuck it up on the wall. It read, “The opportunities and family support given to a person with Down Syndrome can greatly enhance their abilities.” They wish there had been a role model for them when Todd was born in 1982.
Regardless of our abilities, we all tend to live up or down to the expectations of others. To reach our potential, family, friends, teachers, and co-workers need to believe in us and have high expectations. More opportunities exist today for individuals with developmental disabilities than ever before. Goals that never seemed possible can become a reality. Pursue your dreams!
